I've been wanting to try this meme.

Name your 10 absolutely favorite couples (het/slash/canon/fanon) and ask people to see what trends they notice about your couples. Try to pick different fandoms.

The reason I haven't yet is that I'm not a shipper by nature. My favorite relationships in fandom are almost without exception gen relationships, and I usually can't get behind a shippy ship unless it works on me on the gen level as well. So I'll do this in two ways: the gen version and the shippy version.

Gen (Mostly) OTPs )

I can handle non-gen takes on most of these pairings but most of the time it's the gen side I'm interested in. This how it's changes on the shippy list when I stick to the same fandoms:

Shippy OTPs )

So. Any trends? Other interesting stuff?

eta: And since it's a sensible thing to do, my all time favorite ships.

I'm not sure where I want my writing to go, or what to think about it. So here's a chance to put me in my place.

WRITING FEEDBACK MEME

Last year [livejournal.com profile] kimouski and I arranged Final Fantasy OTP War, in which you nominate and plug your het ship of choice, after which you prompt and write as much as you can. If anybody's interested in a rematch go and say HELL YEAH over here.

[livejournal.com profile] shardsofblu gave me five things that remind her about me on her journal. Here are my thoughts on them.

1. Final Fantasy VII + Cloud + Tifa )

2. Batman )

3. Writing )

4. halfamoon )

5. Lana Lang )

I've been running into this meme on flist and elsewhere, so why not do it myself? Snatched from various flisters, with more lists and heart of the meme at [livejournal.com profile] holiday_wishes.

So here's the meme I was supposed to do earlier this week.

1. There are 30 questions.
2. Next to each number, write only the name of the person who fits.
3. Answer one question with one name.
4. Don't tell the questions to anyone who isn't doing the meme.

And then some thoughts on Heroes. SPOILERS AHOY.

A couple of more comments/complaints about The Dark Night because I can't be happy about anything )

And now that's done with, something to make up for my crankiness.

List 10 songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 10 songs. Then tag 10 other people to see what they're listening to.

As usual, I won't tag, but grab this if you want to. My selection behind the cut.

Meme taken from [livejournal.com profile] imadra_blue since I made a request in hers.

I will write a drabble for the first TEN commenters to request one. In return, they have to post this in their journal.

The fandoms I'm most willing to write are Final Fantasy VII, Star Wars, Silent Hill, Smallville, Iron Man (movieverse) and House MD, but every fandom I've ever written/mentioned in my LJ go. By drabble I mean something that's 100 words long.

Now THIS is a meme to get behind. Taken from various journals.

So I was adding some new interests to my LJ profile (because I, uh... have some new interests. Yes.) and found myself feeling defensive every time I typed a female name, thinking, basically, FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME, because I felt as if someone somewhere was going to be criticizing my love for them.

So, anyway, then I made a list of women who make me want to say FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME. They are far from the only women who are awesome, or the only women people need to be told to step off of, but they are the top ten I feel that way about, right now, off the top of my head.

If you want to argue with me about the awesomeness of any of these women, I am afraid I will simply be referring you to the subject line. THAT IS ALL.

So, here's mine.

Didn't stay as a top ten, though.. )

So for the entire week, I have basically done nothing but cough my lungs out. Surely I have earned the right to do a TV-meme.

I like memes, okay? Cut for teh length )

Hmm.

Some people got over 100. Should I develop an inferiority complex about this?

So, since I'm not going to get any new fic out this year, here's a meme about what I did get done.

End-of-2007 fic writing meme )

This year was still very drabble-heavy for me, but I fully intend to change that next year. Writing always gives me heartache, but it's like an addiction: I can't stop.

And now, a real life meme snatched from [livejournal.com profile] kimouski!

POST-HOLIDAY MEME EXTRAVAGANZA, BABY! )

I'm most likely not going to post anything until next year, so Happy New Year to everybody! Don't walk into fireworks.

For some reason, I really feel like wasting my time. First, late answers for latest Fannish Five because sometimes, I like fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5: What are the 5 creepiest or most frightening pieces of fan fiction you have ever read?

WARNING! Although the level of creepiness and horror wary in these stories, all stories have disturbing content.

1) The Nightmare Series, by Lasarhiona

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Giles-centric. A series of four stories where Giles finds himself in different kind of horrible situations. The first one is one of the most uncomfortable stories I've ever read in any fandom, which starts with violation of trust and becomes steadily worse, and nothing in the story goes past PG rating. The other parts stories are good too, but it's the first that really stands out to me.

2) What Guile is This? A Luddite's Love Story, by [livejournal.com profile] glossing

Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Giles/Buffybot. Buffy is dead, Giles is grieving. Luckily Buffybot is there. A lot of writers go for Ripper-route when writing dark Giles, but in this story we have the ordinary Giles at his pathetic, disturbing worst.

3) Choices, by Siubhan.

Star Wars, Obi-Wan/Maul. Siubhan was the first slash author whose works I read because she was who she was, and Obi-Wan/Maul was the first slash pairing that I read because it was what it was. Choices is an AU where Sidious is the one to face the Jedi, and Obi-Wan ends up looking after Maul. A disturbed, fucked up, broken Maul. Not exactly a creepy or horrifying story, but it deals with disturbing themes, and gives Maul sympathetic and three-dimensional characterization without stripping him of his villain status. The story is slightly outdated, but it's still a nice read.

4) A Confession

X-Men, Xavier-gen. An AU where Xavier has decided on another kind of approach to the mutant/human-problem from a very different POV. He goes to a Catholic priest to confess about it. A great example of how you can draw darkness out of a canonically good character.

5) The Ninth Silence, by Princess Artemis

Final Fantasy VII, Cid-centric. When it comes to victimized characters in FFVII-fandom, Cid isn't usually one of them, and this is one of the rare stories that set out to break him. Before the final battle, Cid doesn't return to Highwind along with rest of the Avalanche, and things go wrong. Later Cloud and Vincent find out why.

I was going to list my favorite creepy vids too, but I think I'll do that later.

This being Fannish Friday Five, I should have done this on.. Friday. Anyway.

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5: Name five stories that aren't a type you normally like (because of characters, pairing, topic, etc.) that you really enjoyed.

1) Gray, by motchi aka [livejournal.com profile] kimouski.

Why I normally wouldn't like it: It's Sephiroth/Tifa. Read more... )

2) Midnight Sun, by ishafel.

Why I normally wouldn't like it: It's RPF. The pairing is Paris Hilton/Eminem. Read more... )

3) Grief And Graveyard Love, by Megan

4) Big, by Hetre Z

5) Done To Death, by Anne Hedonia

Why I normally shouldn't like it: It's Spike/Tara. Read more... )

Now, I don't tend to do either memes or shipping much, but since this one seems to be popping up again, I might as well give it a shot. FFVII.

Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] rosehiptea. In this one you write 10 weird things/habits/facts about yourself, and tag 10 people to do the same. I'm a terribly boring person, but here we go!

10 random things about me.. )

I'm going to skip the tagging, mostly because I don't have 10 people on my friendslist but if anybody feels like doing this, feel free to take!

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5: What five fannish vids would you make if you could?

1. Angel The Series: Angel-centric vid to Chris Cornell's You Know My Name. I'm convinced that you could basically make a vid about any main character in any series with action and angst and make it work, and I fit it fits Angel, both character and the series itself, very well.

2) Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Buffy-centric vid to Letter - From the Lost Days, which is a song from Silent Hill 3. In this one we would have young, innocent Buffy having a conversation with her older, more bitter self. I have this one nearly completely detailed in my mind, effects and all.

3) ATS/BTVS: Tribute vid to either Buffy or Cordelia, to Reamonn's Supergirl. The initial version I had in mind featured Cordelia, and it was sort of a protest to Cordelia's treatment in her last two years, but the lyrics fit Buffy too.

4) Final Fantasy VII: Cloud-centric vid to A Perfect Circle's Orestes. I have no idea how I would even construct it, all I know is that I love the song and I think the lyrics (and the myth behind it) fit Cloud and his relationship with Sephiroth perfectly.

5) Supernatural: Sort of a trailer to series itself, featuring Theme of Laura from Silent Hill 2. Except that it would include all these spoilery scenes, like the big surprise from Devil's Trap. The song itself would fit the series very well, though.
