Holiday Wishes

I've been running into this meme on flist and elsewhere, so why not do it myself? Snatched from various flisters, with more lists and heart of the meme at
holiday_wishes.
Step One
-- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a________ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
-- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
-- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
-- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy.
Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. Anything fannish for Remy Hadley aka Thirteen from House, who is my new most favorite character ever and whose treatment in fandom (ho ho, she has Cuntington's! ARGH) makes me angry and sad. Fics, vids, icons, lovefest, hot pictures of Olivia Wilde, gen, het, femslash, anything goes.
2. A Supernatural vid based on Don Johnson Big Band's Road, preferably from Dean's POV. Going crazy with the emo porn is very encouraged.
3. A Buffy the Vampire Slayer vid based on Reamonn's Supergirl, about Buffy. I would prefer it was gen vid, but everything works as long as it's about Buffy being awesome.
4. Any sort of fannish take on this painting by Hugo Simberg. Any fandom, any characters. Actually, any take would be good. Art is the preferred medium but by all means not the only one!
5. Horror meta! I'm always curious about why certain kind of things freak us out and what kind of reactions different horror stories of any medium depend on. Basically, anything along the lines of this essay, but it doesn't have to be written stuff; picture essays, link collections etc. are also good.
6. Happy Tree Friends DVDs. I like my fluffy cartoon animals bloody and dead.
7. Tips about how to punch some self-discipline into oneself. Or develop the little you have. After over twenty years of life I'd like to uncover the mystery, you know?
8. Some kind of general community for female characters, something that isn't newsletter or a fest and where you can have discussions and fic and meta. I remember seeing people discussing a community like that, but so far I haven't run into it. But it would be cool.
9. Suggestions about books I should try tracking down in order to learn to draw again, or just links to drawing exercises or tutorials. Not that I've never been much of an artist, but it would be nice to be decent again instead of wondering "how do you do this circle thing again?".
10. Universal backlash for all the pricks in the world. Seriously, how long do we have to wait for this one?
Should anybody want to contact me, I'm available at both at gmail.com and yahoo.com com by my lj- handle. Happy Holidays to everybody!
