Vid Rec: Circus

It's been a while since I've done one of these, but there's no way I'm going to ignore a Fight Club-vid that is set to Britney Spears's Circus.

Circus seems to be a very multipurpose song for vidding, but it's still eerie how well it fits Fight Club; the song is about performing but the performer isn't really in control (I saw a great article that dealt with this more smartly, but of course I've lost the link) and Fight Club is about a guy who tries to become empowered, and the vid is all about these two things going together in perfect sync. A great two minutes of WTF.

The editing was just amazing. I also love it when a vid makes me see a song in a new way, and this vid definitely achieved that.

And I must say that I LOVE how the vidder included that penguin shot near the end.

I know, the vid was full of "OMG THAT'S PERFECT" moments like that! Everything was just delightfully clever.

Also, that's exactly the article I was talking about, thank you so much! It made the song so interesting to me, despite not caring about it before.

And now that you mentioned another "Circus" vid, I think that's how I originally found the article, but never watched the vid itself. Wasn't it a Kirk-vid though?

I was quite surprised myself, since a Britney Spears song would be the last thing I'd be having thinky thoughts about, lol. But that article was a very good read indeed, and seeing it vidded to those kind of source material -- everything just fits so perfectly.

Yep, it's a Kirk video and what I found interesting that the commenter was remarking about the "oddly tragic" nature of Kirk coming across in that vid (while the rest of us were simply basking in its cracky joy) -- prompting the vidder to provide that link.

And you definitely should watch it if you haven't already. ;)
