I still have tons of stuff to check out, but here's my initial batch of recs.

Aladdin: Whole New World shows us the Genie after the end of the story, and how he's always in his Al's life. Excellent writing, and Genies is just like he should.

Beauty and the Beast: Both a little scared, neither one prepared is an awesome little story about Cogsworth and how it feels like to be cursed, and have feelings for Lumiere. Meanwhile, one of Gaston's admirers makes a friend out of Belle in the sympathetic What Became of Marie La Fleur. Awesome stories, both of them.

Bible: New Testament-fic isn't usually my thing, but Bread and Fish (and wine) is a lovely, warm story about Jesus, apostles and feeding many people. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) has Jesus in a hippie bus, while back in the Old Testament Seven Days has Miriam thinking of Aaron as she's sent away to heal. Miriam also thinks of Aaron in Understanding, which makes an interesting contrast to Seven Days, and finally Miriam appears in Tambourine Woman, which plays and reads like a song. A rush of Bible-fics has always been one of my favorite parts in Yuletide and this year was no exception.

Aliens: Far Across the Stars. Things turn out differently for Ripley and Hicks. So, so awesome, and my official canon from this day on. Also good is We Did Not Make Ourselves, where we see into Call's mind, and through her we see Ripley.

Deadwood: Aside from my own gift story, there was also another Al-centric treat in this year's Deadwood-patch, called Civility. Excellent summary for Al's humanity.

Calvin and Hobbes: the sandwich story, also known as the heart-breaker of this year's Yule. Hobbes is changing, and unless I want to get really depressed I'm never going to read this story again. But it's very much worth it.

Dexter: I haven't seen rest of S3 yet, so I have no idea how canonically valid this story is, but does that prevent A Motherfucking Roly-Poly Chubby-Cheeked Shit Machine from being the best Deb/Rita-friendship fic ever? No. The Deb-voice is just AWESOME. Yesterday ~ Today ~ Tomorrow is a darker story set after S1, but it's nevertheless a wonderful glimpse to the Dexter/Deb-siblinghood. Then there's Fools Rush In, with Deb comforting LaGuerta after the death of Doakes. baby birds and brothers gone has Brian follow Dexter to the Morgan-household, and it makes excellent use of its short length. And finally there's Veni Vidi Veni, which is a perfect little tribute to the entertainingness of Masuka.

But I'm A Cheerleader: The More Things Change features Graham after the movie, wondering about what changes and what doesn't. Lovely epilogue for the movie.

Twin Peaks: I am a lonely soul. has poor Maddy stuck in the Black Lodge. Chilling, and beautiful to the bone.

Fairytales: Toad Dreams is a stunning, dark look into the world of Little Mermaid from the sea witch's POV, while The Garden of the Nightingale is a retelling of the original Nightingale-tale from the POV of the kitchen servants. Cloak and Dagger features the Little Red Ridinghood after the end of the tale, showing that being saved from a wolf doesn't mean a happy ending. How Does Your Garden Grow tells the story of Rapunzel's parents, with a heartbreaking twist.

Rome: Hereditas Damnosa is a look into Octavian's mind, and to how he feels about Antony, with slice of Maecenas on the side. Watch out for the slash and Antony.

Titanic: Titanic-fandom provided a wonderful rush of femlash this year in form of Out (To Sea) and Unsinkable, both featuring Maggie Brown/Rose Dawson-pairing. There is also a lovely gen story about the band that remained behind to play on, called The Last Dance. A short, wonderful tearjerker to cheer up your Christmas.

Shakespeare, Richard III: For some reason, I have this fascination with Richard/Anne, so Wooed and Won was quite a treat to run into. An interesting look to what's going on on Anne's end.

James Bond: Better Days is a short James/M with the most perfect characterization.

Watchmen: I've only recently began to read Watchmen-fic, and with my interest in Dan/Rorschach, Small Monsters was a terrific story in which Dan gets some insight into Rorschach's mind. Simple but very effective.

RPF: French Revolution: Hubris (Thermidor Blues) is a brief look into Robespierre's mind before the end of his life, and does a great job of making him human and vulnerable.

Hello! I'm your yuletide recpipient, and I just wanted to say thanks again for the great fic. I absolutely loved it, and I especially appreciate that you were so kind in sticking to what I asked for - I gather from this post that you're not a Robespierre-hater like I am, which makes it extra-extra-nice of you to treat my request so sympathetically. *bounces with yuletide enthusiasm*

Hello! I had absolutely no problems with your requests, so don't worry about that. I read historical fiction more than I write it, so taking on your request was a challenge I was happy to take. I'm really glad you liked it!

You're welcome! Sorry that I never gave you a proper review, though, I usually have better habits than that. But your story was truly amazing; I loved your Ripley, and how you gave Newt and Hicks the respect and justice that they deserved.
