Snow White Queen, by bohemianstar13
Smallville, Lana Lang/stalkers. I haven't always liked Lana, but I've always been interested in her position on the show, and something I've always wanted to see more of is commentary about the objectification she often experiences, on how she's defined more by people around her than by herself.
keewick's Sugar is a vid about latter, still the most sympathetic take on Lana I've seen in fandom. This vid is more about the former.
It's hard to describe how disturbing this vid was to watch, but it made me uncomfortable enough to squirm on my seat, especially during the second verse. While I understand fandom's frustration about every man in the series obsessing about Lana, I find it strange that the anger about this is always directed at Lana herself, not at the men who stalk her. All the times she's been afraid, touched against her will, stared and gawked at; she's not asking for any of that, and this vid shows just how horrifying it is for her to get treated like a piece of meat. It also succeeded in making me angry about Lana's possibly last appearance in this season all over again: all the empowerment she received got negated in favor of making her a victim again. People should be angry for her, not at her.
edit:: Second interesting vid I ran into lately was this:
Birthday, by Emong111
Ring 0, Sadako-centric. This vid is basically a summary for the movie, telling the story of how the series antagonist, Sadako Yamamura, became who she is. The vid uses a song from The Ring/The Ring Two OST, and scenes from the movie have been edited together to match the changes in the song. This was really lovely to watch, and I haven't even seen this particular movie.
