In mood for a list? Check out The 50 best protest signs of 2009. This one here is my favorite:

Canon in full sense of the word, folks.

I also have a meme.

Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile" (or if you're X-File-y, "Resist or Serve").

• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
• Update your journal with the answers to the questions
• Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

I got this from [profile] mrasaki, who gave me the following questions:

1. What was the first fandom you were ever in, and were you active in it?

My first fandom ever was Star Wars back when there was just the original trilogy, and I was active in it in purely consumer level. I buzzed around the web exploring every fansite that got on my way and wrote wish-fulfillment Mary Sue fic to myself (my life was bad! I was entitled to some!) and wished I had the courage to contact my favorite authors, and it was very fun. My favorite type of fic was Luke/Vader-gen fic. I dropped out of it sometime after The Phantom Menace came out and was never able to get into it on the same level again, but it's still my most favorite fandom.

2. What is your favorite food?

Pasta in all forms, though my belly doesn't agree with me these days. But it's okay because I also like tuna and chicken salads a lot.

3. If you could live anywhere in the world and at any time period, where and when would it be?

I don't think I'd like to live anywhere else permanently (I like having these modern things around), but 70s UK would be awesome to visit so that I'd get to see Freddie Mercury fully-manned Queen live. That utopia period and place where world isn't fucked-up would be pretty nice too.

4. You've written quite a few FF7 fics. What do you think of all the FF7 sequels and their effect on FF7 fandom? (Advent Children, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus)

Ha ha oh man. I've been notoriously anti-compilation ever since Advent Children came out because I feel they reinforce the worst misinterpretations about the original game, and though Squeenix seems to be getting better at it (I haven't played Crisis Core, but from what I've heard Crisis Core is pretty decent), I still think they simplify things a lot more than it's necessary (I liked Zack's death in the original game a lot more) and depend too much on fanservice. Then again I already disagreed with just about every single thing with the fandom way before compilation ever came to exist, so I've learned to accept it and let others do their thing while I do mine. Less wank that way.

5. What is your favorite book, magazine, or comic?

Book: As far as "this is fucking genius OMG OMG" goes, Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. Subject matter aside it's just an amazing piece of literature and I hate to see it dismissed as fap material (which it ISN'T). Now, as far as "I can't stop reading this" goes, anything Edgar Allan Poe goes, and most of King's stuff. Carrie, Shining and Rose Madder are my favorites from the latter.

Magazine: I'm not really a magazine reader, but when I was younger I would never miss the Donald Duck-magazine when it came. It's a Finnish thing.

Comic: Fables and Secret Six are my favorites from the current comics, but my most favorite comic of all time is Asterix. There's no combination like wit and violence.
