Smallville: Traveler

Brief, non-spoilery thought on two latest Lost-episodes: Despite being good episodes with good stuff going on in them, I couldn't bring myself to like neither. This week's Smallville, on the other hand..
Unlike most Smallville-fans, I was a Lionel-fan from day one, to the point he was the only thing that kept me around during seasons 3 and 4 (which had their bright spots, but were overall disappointing), and as a fan I have to say that his time is now up. I don't think any fan honestly believed that he had made a complete turn-around as a person, but the revelation that he was behind Clark's kidnapping felt a little sudden for me. Not sure how to explain, I just would have appreciated better preparation.
However, the act itself makes a lot of sense, and I like that as a consequence Clark finally sees through him. So now Lionel has lost both his power over Lex and Clark's trust in him, and it's obvious that he isn't in the top of his game anymore. In this sense, he has reached the full circle as a character. Storywise, it should be only the matter of time until Lex finishes him off for good, but with Rosenbaum possibly leaving the show, they could possibly be setting him up as the main villain again. I hope the former is the case rather than the latter.
Another thing that could have used more preparation was Kara's decision to trust Chloe and Lana over Lex, but in the end this didn't bother me so much either. In fact, I think the reason she moved in with Lex was because Clark and Lana were both obviously unwilling to share the truth with her rather than because she found Lex more trustworthy. After all, she didn't leap immediately at Lex's offer to help her, and when Chloe and Lana finally approach her with truth, she goes with them. But I thought the last scene between her and Clark suggested that she doesn't think Lex is entirely irredeemable yet, although I guess we'll find out about that in the future episodes.
Her rescue of Clark, BTW? Just as bad-ass and awesome as it should be. I don't know if the comic fans feel the same way, but I really enjoy Smallville's portrayal of Supergirl. Young and naive, perhaps, but still a goddamn hero.
Speaking of goddamn heroes, I loved the seamless co-operation between Lana and Chloe in this episode. They haven't exactly been the best of friends in this season, but I loved that they instantly put all their differences aside in order to save Clark, and were smart enough not to rely on Lionel only. (Another sign that Lionel's time is up: his deception hardly distracted Chloe and Lana.) They make a great, resourceful team. Somehow I have a feeling it will take a while until we see something like that again.
So, while I think this episode could have used better execution, it was overall very good. My biggest complaint is that they offed Patricia Swann so soon. The actress was great, the character was interesting, and even if she makes things too easy for Clark or something (honestly, why was she killed in the first place?), I'm sure they could have done something other than stuff her in the refridgerator.
