My birthday was yesterday. But it's not too late to shower me with pictures of Adrian Pasdar!
Joking aside, I do have some recs to share.
Angel
I don't listen to rap much, but after seeing these two vids, I began to wonder if I should try Kanye West out. The way the rich source material and the songs are combined in this vids is just really impressive.

General. A stunning tribute to great series, highlighting everything that made the show so great, but also all the darkness and pain that made it such a heavy show in the end. The sheer emotion of this vid is just breathtaking, all the anger and love. I think I might have ended up crying for hours if I had seen this right after the series ended, because I'm overwhelmed by it even now.

Gunn-centric. Though well-liked, Gunn hasn't gained as much attention as he deserves in fandom, and I haven't seen many vids with him. But I have to say that after seeing this one, I actually wonder if I need to. This vid sums up everything about Gunn, and gets him in a way the show itself didn't. A true piece of art.
Supernatural
Supernatural is a show about broken men, and Dean is the most broken of them all. (Although Sam is quickly catching up with him.) This is probably the reason there's less dark Dean out there than there is dark Sam and dark John - according to my experience, at least - although there should be more. These vids show why.
The Darkness in Dean

I discovered this vid through another person's rec, and some of the comments complained that Dean would never get as dark as he gets in this vid. I think it's a slight stretch, too, but just about every episode in S3 has convinced me that Dean in this vid ISN'T entirely impossible. This vid makes excellent use of Supernatural's more misogynist side, where women are victimized, where the hero is the one to victimize them. Very interesting AU.
War Drums

Although less disturbing than The Darkness in Dean, War Drums too paints an effective view of darker Dean, with the emphasis on his relationship with Sam. The vid uses A Perfect Circle-song is one of my favorites from the band, with creepy mood and lyrics that seem to be made for the complicated Sam/Dean-relationship.
Smallville
Clark/Lana is a controversial pairing in Smallville-fandom, and one I hated for years before I slowly warmed up to it from fifth season onward. Which I'm glad for, because I might not have given this lovely vid a chance otherwise.

The interesting thing about this vid is that the vidder claims right in her notes that she isn't too big neither on the pairing or on the song choice, and yet those two things come together in this perfect harmony. Very bittersweet and poignant, just like the pairing itself is. I love it.
