House 6.01
- First things first: I LOVED IT. This was exactly what I needed to remember why I love the character of House so much in the first place.
- I was so worried this was going to be the clichéd "mental hospitals are out to DESTROY YOU" kind of story, and was really glad to be proved wrong. I was also afraid that Nolan was going to be the antagonist, and was so glad that wasn't the case either. I really loved his scenes with House, and his scene with his father was the heartbreaker of the episode for me.
- I also loved the other patients and the connections House made with them, especially Steve and Alvie. I loved that House helped them both, even if it took some massive back-firing in Steve's case first.
- Though that back-firing was well done: I was smiling so hard at Steve and House have fun together, only for it to end like that. But I guess that was necessary for House's apology to really have weight, which it did.
- Annie getting better has been slammed as cliché, but while that's true I thought it was very fitting since this episode was about House having hope for once, and Annie's healing really drove that point in, so it gets thumbs up from me.
- House/Lydia = LOVE. The chemistry between them was wonderful and the love-making scene is one of the most tender ones I've seen in a while. I didn't mind House crying at that part at all. I'll be looking for fic.
- Speaking of House, I thought this is exactly how you balance the House With A Heart with House Who's A Bastard. House-characterization was just so fucking amazing in this episode that I can't put it into words.
- They just did a great job of resolving the cliffhanger of the season finale both believably and in an emotionally satisfying way. There was heartbreak and there was heartwarming and there weren't compromises, and I loved how House both re-emerged and grew.
What a great way to start the new season. HATERS TO THE LEFT, SAYS I.
