Recs and Mad Men

Wow, it's really been some time since I actually sat down and read some fic. (Does that however mean I'm anywhere close to being started with the list of all the stuff I should check? Of course not!) But since I did, here's some recs.

Lost

Dites moi, by motchi aka [livejournal.com profile] kimouski

After the S5 finale, I was desperate to see some justice for Juliet, so I requested some from [livejournal.com profile] kimouski. This is Juliet after the island, trying to start her life again.

Most of these are from Remix Redux (the [livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 during this round), which is one of my favorite challenges to read fic from in fandom.

Supernatural

Such Friends Are Dangerous

Sam/Jess, Sam/Ruby. Describing the story deeply will give away too much, but I can say that it's horrifying and heartbreaking, and one of the greatest takes on Jess I've seen.

Wake Up a Little Bit Braver (Duet for Beginners)

Sarah Blake & Jo Harvelle. I always love to see how lives of minor characters go after encountering the Winchesters, and this is a really great take on Sarah and what might have happened to her, and to Jo too.

Dollhouse/Supernatural

Saint-Seducing Gold (The Natural Minor Remix)

Echo, Adelle & surprise. Dollhouse is a great, if twisted place for crossovers, and considering the twisted place that is the world of Supernatural these fandoms were meant to combine. Creepy and sad, with excellent Adelle.

X-Men

15 Entries from the Pillow Book of Alex Summers (The Bullet Point Remix)

Alex-gen, with hints of various pairings. Alex isn't my favorite X-Man, but this story did a really good job of bringing up his compelling side as well as the frustrating one, and I really like all the glimpses into the X-Men and to Alex himself, and to what Lorna means to him. The formatting of the story is also very creative and added to the story.

Farscape

Mousetrap (The Name of the Game Remix)

Scorpius & Crichton. The relationship between Scorpius and Crichton was one of the Farscape's major draws to me, and the way Scorpius sees Crichton in this story is exactly the way I believe it to be in canon as well. Excellent portraits of both characters.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Slayer, comma, The (the face you know remix)

Buffy & ensemble. Despite Buffy being, like, my most favorite female character ever (rivaled only by Veronica Mars), I've rarely seen fic about her that would absolutely capture her character for me, and this is one of those rare cases. Wonderful Buffy-characterization and a lot of magnificent moments, it has.

Sundays at Nine (Slipping Through Your Fingers Remix)

Kennedy/Willow. Unlike 99 % of BtVS-fandom I loved this pairing from start to end, but that doesn't keep me from admitting that the canon could have done a better job of giving more meat to their relationship. This story fleshes out and does justice to Kennedy, and also highlights the issues of her relationship with Willow. It's not the happiest story, but it also has a lot of hope in it.

Also, a Mad Men-promo!

I love Kartheiser so, so much.
