Claire finds out about Nathan Petrelli's death through a YouTube-video.
It's as accidental as things can possibly be in her life, Zach's comment about something odd happening at the paper factory in an e-mail catching her eye, a blurry shape of Peter in a related news article catching her breath. The video has been deleted by the time Claire first tracks it down, but when somebody else puts it up she gets to smile for a moment as she sees Nathan and Peter standing together, alive. All right.
By the time Claire hears the first shot, dread has already settled in her stomach, whispering how what she sees is too good to be true. When she hears the second, the whisper almost turns into a shriek.
Claire watches the video three more times before it's deleted for good, but she doesn't try to look for it. Instead she prints out a plane ticket, packs a fruit knife among her things. A bullet (two, three) may be strong enough to take her father(s), but Claire has survived worse. She'll never be talked out of doing the right thing again.
